Hey, I’m Anna.

Let’s go for a scroll.

Before we go any further you should know,

I have Adblocker.

And yet, I’m a copywriter - not because I hate myself, but because I believe advertising, done right, is unmissable.

The first ad to sink its teeth into me was a 30 second spot for World Vision. I watched. I cried. I stole my mum’s credit card and sponsored a child. I was eight.

Copywriting was always the goal, and getting here was pretty straightforward, I just: studied advertising, worked as a suit, pivoted into PR, became a freelance writer, went to film school, worked as a producer and went to AWARD School.

I think the best ads don’t feel like ads at all, and the best writing leaves you feeling a little heartbroken - like the words are over well before you’re ready for them to be.

Unfortunately I am still learning how to do this.

Nevertheless, I’ve been lucky enough to share my Google Docs with the likes of: Bullfrog, CHEP, The Producers, Modibodi, The Company You Keep, Moxie, Dame Products, Frank Body, and Mecca.

I guess now’s as good a time as any to tell you:

  • I once wrote Guy Ritchie’s tweets.

  • My face has been touched by a Drag Race winner.

  • My timesheets are up to date.

More recent and less coveted professional highlights include:

  1. Being a Cannes Young Lions finalist.

  2. Graduating AWARD School with a few pieces on the wall.

  3. Producing a couple short films that made it to MIFF, SBIFF and beyond.

  4. Trying baked beans, (they were ok).

I hope to retire having inspired another kid to steal their mum’s credit card.

The land I live and work on always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land. Sovereignty was never ceded. I pay my respects to the Traditional Custodians of country in Naarm, where I live and across Australia.
